CoD7 - Call of Duty Series Could Return to WWII Again

Four of the five games in the Call of Duty series, counting Treyarch's World at War (PC, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS), have been set in World War II but there's still room for more antics featuring The Greatest Generation, according to World at War senior producer Noah Heller.

"I can't say that there won't ever be a WWII Call of Duty game again, but ... it's gratifying that we're able to show the close for once, rather than the opening," said Heller to CVG. "The war is over and both campaigns have a very clear ending." World at War takes place in the Pacific and in Berlin.

To make his point, Heller explores some parts of World War II that Treyarch and Infinity Ward, the alternating developers of the series for publisher Activision, haven't yet used. "People definitely haven't seen the final charge of the Red Army, people haven't seen what the fighting was like in Okinawa."

"I think it's definitely important to show those stories from a polished perspective rather than show some of the mopping up elsewhere in the world," he explained.

"If we had time we might have shown the end of the war from many different countries' perspectives, and maybe that's a story still untold," Heller concluded.

I have more faith in Activision than the 3rd party developers.  CoD3 and 5 are complete garbage.

Haven't played bolts only in CoD5, but I did like that in CoD2.  Was a lot of fun.

Cod waw bolt action is fun, but got to get rid of the pistols, they shot quicker then most autos in the game, and only ruin a bolt action server.

The game developers really really need to think a tad bit more. Lots of Campaigns have not been covered in WW2. The Pacific was semi new in World at War, but not since Breakthrough has someone looked at the africa campaign, nor the Italy campaign, what about the fights that occured in Holland?

Pretty much what has been done alot (too much) has been D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, similar pushes into Berlin, Kursk and Stalingrad.
Most of these are post 41, but I wanna see some of the fights of Germany on the offence. Where the idea is more of a tactical retreat, or underground missions. I wanna see some of the better Italian Battles, some of the better Africa battles. They have already shown in CoD4, they do not seem to mind if the character the players play as dies, play a French soldier battling  the german onslaught in some of the eastern towns.

I dunno they say there is alot of the war which they have not covered, yet they only look at the downfall of the German armies.

I mean... the African campaign seems anti-climactic with Rommel running out of gas and all...

That maybe true, but it is like saying why play the american rush to berlin maps when russia gets there first? its the journey! not the ending!
