OK guys. My stuff arrived today, so over the next few days I will be in the process of upgrading my PC. I think for your entertainment (or maybe just mine) I will document it with pictures and results.

Let's start with my current set up:
AMD FX-53 - 2.4Ghz
2 gigs ramm
Nvidia 7600 GS
2x74gig raptors at 10,000rpm

I just threw in the 8800 gts into my current set up to see what type of performance increase I could have gotten if I had just spent the money on the card. Below are the results: About a 30% overall increase. The card was about $300, so that is 10 dollars for every 1% increase. The graphics score actually increased by about 54%, but the bottle neck in the processor holds back its potential. A good way to tell is the fact that the minimum fps went from 16 up to 52 fps....however, the max fps tops out at about 130fps.

nice ghost . make sure you arent on carpet and wearing rubber soles when u work on the box. static electricity is a bitch , i fried my ddr once when i touched it and gave it a lil zap

lol...pwned. that's a good tip...i suppose ill set up shop in the kitchen....have hardwoods in there. Sofa is coming over this weekend. We are going to have a little PC building make-out session. I think this will be interesting watching the PC come together and at the same time measuring the performance increases.

For the ESD strap bullshit, you can ground yourself if you plug in a PSU (doesn't have to be on or anything) and then touch the PSU or some metal surface attached to the PSU.
Of course that assumes that the outlets in your house are properly grounded :X

Sorry I didn't respond to you, we were fighting an optional boss in Kara. We downed all the main bosses and 1 optional boss in one night (~3 hours). Fucking pwnt. Anyway, I was gonna leave sometime Saturday morning and get to your place around 12 (if that's cool) because my parents have an anniversary dinner tomorrow (or tonight actually: Friday).

OK, everything got installed and just ran aquamark. check out this score. I increased my score by over 100,000!!!! lol. Holy shit!!! That is a 175% increase in performance.....$4.50 per 1% increase. Ill OC later and post my scores.

3DMark. Toughest benchmark for PC. Pushes your PC to the limit way more than aquamark. Also focuses alot on CPU strength.
