i am fucked ladies and gentlemen.

and at this time, if i continue to try to fuck with windows to resolve, i will end up throwing my computer out the window, getting very hostile and violent, possible lash out at others around me.

so thanks to all whom tried to help, but seeking a good gameplay thru higher FPS is not going to be possible. now that sound is gone, it is not worth playing - at all.

if i can calm down, and somehow shit a nugget of golden information on how to make things work again, i might turn the piece of shit back on..

for now, you can see me on the forums and on my site/live webcam.

FTW but most of all... "Ass rape that fucking fuck-clown winblows whoring prick Gates"

I should have titled the thread ...Winblows = FAILSAUCE. Incorrectly identifying the subject was an error on my part.

Ghost. if u think u can help, tell me how to install it. I'd greatly appreciate it.

i'm an engineer, this is a simple process. I am not an average user.

I am not speculating as to what the issue is, I know what the problem is. I don't have a solution and it is frustrating.

These kind of things simply do not happen with a solid OS. there is no debating this. If Windows worked properly, then it would have been fine, and I would have not previously abandoned it personally and professionally more than 5 years ago.

It's funny...the only probelms I see from people with Windows are those who build thier own PC's and install everything themselves.  My last two PC's have been floor models.  I just grab the latest vid card, new power supply and I'm set for 2 years.

If he is having sound card issues, hitting you up on Vent may not be a very good solution.

Building your own computer is almost always the best way to go if you don't mind getting your hands dirty.

Bevis, being an engineer doesn't guarantee intelligence.

I'm an engineer and have been for over 15 years (my first real job was an engineering position though I lacked the degree at the time).  I work with nothing but engineers and I will be the first one to tell you that just because they have the education it doesn't always make them fit to do anything more than make pancakes for breakfast.  Simple tasks are often too difficult for them, but that's ok their UofM education landed them their 90k job.

Regardless, what problems are you having?  I must have missed the original thread.
I saw something about an X-Fi card, are you running Vista or XP?

all that horseshit aside, the problem is "Direct Sound" has failed.

How do I manually update the driver? I suspect fixing that may resolve the issue.

Did you try running "dxwebsetup.exe"?

That should make every attempt to update your DirectX and replace damaged files.

Removing DirectX and reinstalling it isn't advised because like IE it's a built in feature of Windows.  It can be done but maybe it's time to do a windows Reinstall (I ENJOY doing it every couple months).

Ok I lied... I don't enjoy doing it but I like to new OS feeling I get!

Here are a couple programs you can try... I have not tried any of them in the past so I cannot refer one over another.
